When I'm 64
Will you still need me
Will you still feed me
When I'm sixty-four?
When Paul McCartney wrote those words some forty years ago, his wife Heather Mills hadn't even been born yet. So, I guess technically, he wasn't asking the question of her.
However, given recent events, I'd imagine her answer would have to be "No."
Sir Paul turned 64 years old yesterday. Far from from being curled up in a rocking chair, he's still going on concert tours, and rocking out like he has for the last four decades. He's also one of the richest individuals in show business. At least for now...
Mills filed for divorce from the former Beatle last month, citing "media interference". News flash for Lady Heather: Paul McCartney was ALREADY TERRIFICALLY FAMOUS when you met him! Duh!
What a crappy thing to happen to a great guy. I still remember when his first wife, Linda, died of breast cancer in the late 90's, he said "I've lost me girlfriend". I also remember getting teary when I heard him say that. Theirs was one of the few true show businesss love stories, even though the end was tragic.
Well, I hope Sir Paul gets through all this, even though it may cost him an arm and a leg... and I hope he can find a lady who will stick by him... maybe til he's 94?

This is one not-well-liked woman. :) The British tabloids are ripping her apart. But ugh, be smart enough to have a prenup. :)
I feel bad for Paul having to face these troubles. It's no fun to go through a divorce no matter how old you are or how long you've been married. I suspect being in the public eye makes it even more difficult to deal with.
Anyway, happy birthday Sir Paul! Glad I got to see you in concert last fall and it was as awesome as I thought it would be.
Oops, I'm new to this and I forgot to sign my anonymous comment which I really didn't mean to be anonymous. :-P

LOL AN arm and a LEG??? LOL ;o) Do you think that she would have to give that fake one to him???
I think this goes to prove that age is a state of mind...
Despite the death of Linda and his recent marital woes, Sir Paul still has the world by the balls IMHO. Any time the money pile is down be a a few mill, all he has to do is make a few phone calls and book a world tour. And guess what- all the expenses are paid for in advance! He gets corporate sponsors to spring for the expenses and what he makes on ticket sales goes directly into his pocket.
He is definitely a cultural icon, a musical genius, and is still a superb and relevant performer at 64. Paul has had a greater impact on our culture than most world leaders. Paul is all that and he still manages to keep a level and humble head on his shoulders.
To their credit, he and Heather have managed to keep a civil tone to their break-up.

It's a shame, I felt so bad for him when Linda died, and really hoped he'd found a second happily ever after. He and linda really seemed to be in love.
