Funeral Music

Bambi tagged me with this meme, which is supposed to be "what music would you like played at your funeral?" So, here are two by the Beatles that I would like played at my funeral...

I'm Only Sleeping
When I wake up early in the morning,
Lift my head, I'm still yawning
When I'm in the middle of a dream
Stay in bed, float up stream

Please don't wake me
No, don't shake me
Leave me where I am
I'm only sleeping

Everybody seems to think I'm lazy
I don't mind, I think they're crazy
Running everywhere at such a speed
Till they find, there's no need

Please don't spoil my day
I'm miles away
And after all
I'm only sleeping

Keeping an eye on the world going by my window
Taking my time

Lying there and staring at the ceiling
Waiting for a sleepy feeling

Please don't spoil my day
I'm miles away
And after all
I'm only sleeping

Keeping an eye on the world going by my window
Taking my time

When I wake up early in the morning,
Lift my head, I'm still yawning
When I'm in the middle of a dream
Stay in bed, float up stream

Please don't wake me
No, don't shake me
Leave me where I am
I'm only sleeping

I'll Be Back Again
You know if you break my heart I'll go,
But I'll be back again,
'Cause I told you once before goodbye,
But I came back again.

I love you so
I'm the one who wants you,
Yes, I'm the one
Who wants you, oh ho, oh ho, oh

You could find better things to do,
Than to break my heart again,
This time I will try to show that I'm
Not trying to pretend.

I thought that you would realize
That if I ran away from you
That you would want me too,
But I got a big surprise,
Oh ho, oh ho, oh

You could find better things to do,
Than to break my heart again,
This time I will try to show that I'm
Not trying to pretend.

I wanna go but I hate to leave you,
You know I hate to leave you , oh ho, oh ho, oh
You know, if you break my heart I'll go,
But I'll be back again.

All right, I was just kidding with those, but I like to freak people out with the song titles.

Actually, what I really want is just about any gospel music by Elvis... such as this. (That oughta make DeAnna smile!)

I'm not going to tag anyone, since the folks I'd like to tag seem to be fairly busy with life in general right about now. Plus, what a morbid subject... SHEESH!! (Consider yourselves lucky that I didn't say "The Monster Mash"!!!)

I got chills reading the lyrics... but with that special warped humor twist you are famous for, you had me laughing again. Of course I was smiling about the Elvis Gospel songs, for his voice shall definately be comforting my loved ones on that day (far, far in the future, God willing). I was thinking maybe "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" LOL "Another One Bites the Dust", "Welcome to the Hotel California", "See You Later Alligator".... with you as the target, the list is twisted and non-ending.

For me personally, I'm going with a shock value opening...the first few versus of "Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead", "They Are Coming To Take Me Away (haha hehe hoho) follwed by Snoopy's "Happy Dance" theme, ending with Elvis, "I Did It My Way"

Actually, I liked "I'm Only Sleeping." I thought I would play "Good Day Sunshine." Lyrics may not be fitting, but it was the mood of the song I was going for. I don't really want anyone to be sad for long when I'm old and grey.

My mom wants them to play Norwegian Wood by the Beatles at her funeral, since it's her favorite song. ("I once had a girl, or should I say, she once had me..".)So every time I listen to the Rubber Soul album, it always makes me think of funeral music!

BTW, I think playing the Beatles at your funeral is sooo Baby Boomer - it sort of cracks me up, in a good way.

It's all Rainman's fault! He is the one who mademe do it...

It's supposed to be 5 songs...I guess you only want 2.;o)

Great choices.

I've selected "I'll See You in My Dreams," (the Joe Brown version that closes the "Concert for George"), and "We'll Meet Again," (the Johnny Cash version from American IV: The Man Comes Around).

I have never even thought about what to play at my funeral.
I only remember that my grandmother wanted "When the saints come marching in" or whatever that song is played at her funeral, SURE ENOUGH it was played! CRAZY!
My parents don't talk about their death. Guess we are a strange family it seems!
