Karaoke Night 11/11/06
So I went out for karaoke this past Saturday night. Went by myself, which is not the best way to go, but it was either that or stay home watching stupid old movies on TV -- how fun is THAT?!?
Got a late start, so I didn't get there until a little after midnight... but even so, I got to do two songs:
Marc Cohn - "Walking In Memphis"
Lee Michaels - "Do You Know What I Mean"
For the latter of the two, it was my first time doing that song. That's been my new philosophy for karaoke recently: always do at least one new song. (On my two previous karaoke outings, my new ones have been "Hush" by Deep Purple, and Rick Derringer's "Rock & Roll Hoochie-Koo".) As far as the Marc Cohn song, I had done it once, about two years ago, but not very well. This time, I was much better. I think I did well on both songs, actually, and I stayed away from my standards, such as "On The Dark Side" or "Bad To The Bone".
Next time, I think I might want to tackle something mellow... perhaps America's "Sister Golden Hair", or maybe something from Gordon Lightfoot.

Jim: Cool song selection. You're a brave man to sing karaoke.
If I tried it, everyone would rush to the exits.
I love singing karakoke!!
I love that Marc Cohn song. It gives me chills.
Hey.I have seen some people post audio on their blogs, can you do that?
You can post one of your karaoke songs! Currently,my speakers aren't hooked up to the computer but if you post a song, it might motivate me to get those speakers out of storage!
Anyway. Glad you had a good time Saturday night and good for you for going out!
Ok, you knew I would comment. I am contemplating karaoke tomorrow night! I have been singing a few songs in the car, a couple of new Cher songs and MAYBE Sheryl Crows Strong Enough! I LOVE karaoke! makes me feel ALIVE!!!
Jim! GOOD for you! Most people only want to sing songs they are "really good" at and that means they are tone deaf and drunk! LOL ;o)
OHHHHH Gordon Lightfoot...oh I bet that is GOOD!!!
As much as I love to sing, I still haven't managed to make it to a Karoake night. Good for you for going out and doing it.
I love Karoake, even though hubby laughs at it. It terrifies me so that I do the same old two songs whenever I manage the effort to try. The Rose by Bette Midler, and Desperado by The Eagles which was for years my theme song :)
