Virginia Is For Fathers

As I type this, I can look out the window and barely see the Washington Memorial off in the distance.

It's kind of surreal.

Why am I here?

My son was on vacation with my ex, and he got sick. Cellulitis in his leg, a particularly stubborn case of it. He's been hospitalized since last Tuesday. I've been here since Friday night, driving 500 miles in one day.

Everything is a lot more expensive here than back in Detroit. Also, people here seem to be in SUCH a hurry. And the freeway system around here is extremely confusing.

Hopefully, my son will be well enough to be released soon. Until then... Reporting live from Arlington, Virginia... I'm Jim McKee. Be well.

I hope you can spring your son soon.
Enjoy Arlington if you can...and if you like a slow pace, head south. In Memphis (which I love, by the way, except for the slowness) everybody takes their dear sweet time about everything. There is no such thing as being "late", it's just called, "being creative with timing."

Holy crap! Sorry to hear about your son!

Hope he gets better!

I have always wanted to go to WA DC!! That would be so cool.
I want to go to the museums and just stand in the capitol building and walk on the same ground as some the most famous politicians. Forefathers, and all.
*sigh*

I'm so sorry to hear about your son! What a bad reason to be in DC. I do love it there, and hope you can enjoy a bit of it despite the circumstances.

Well if there was one nice place to be this time of year I think you picked it! Sorry your son isn't doing very well. What a good parent to drive to be with him, I seriously doubt my dad would do that! Sending you my thoughts and prayers!

Cellulitis can be extremely serious. I had it once and my daughter got it this summer for the first time so know I know she is prone. I so hope he feels better soon. You are a great Dad!
